Making the Most of Your Age Pension Entitlements

The Centrelink Age Pension can provide more than a fortnightly payment. Eligible pensioners may also access a range of concessions, rebates and support payments through the Pensioner Concession Card, helping reduce the cost of living in retirement.

Benefits may include:

  • Healthcare savings through reduced-cost PBS medicines and Medicare Safety Net benefits.

  • Additional Centrelink support, including the Pension Supplement, Energy Supplement and Rent Assistance (where eligible).

  • Energy and utility concessions to help reduce electricity, gas and water bills.

  • Council and household concessions, including discounts on rates, water and sewerage charges.

  • Public transport and travel benefits, such as the Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal Card and regional travel concessions.

  • Home and retirement support, including access to the Home Equity Access Scheme.

Eligibility and available concessions vary depending on your circumstances and where you live.

A review of your Centrelink position can help ensure you're receiving all available benefits and concessions.

FIFA World Cup 2026: By the Numbers

The 2026 FIFA World Cup was the biggest in history, featuring 48 teams, 104 matches, three host countries (Canada, Mexico and the United States) and 16 host cities.

Here are some of the tournament's most remarkable statistics:

  • The 2023-2026 FIFA World Cup cycle generated approximately US$13 billion in revenue, around 70% higher than the previous cycle.

  • Approximately US$9 billion came directly from the tournament, making it FIFA's most lucrative event ever.

  • FIFA estimates the tournament contributed US$41 billion to global GDP, generated US$80 billion in economic output and supported around 824,000 jobs worldwide.

  • A record 6.8 million fans attended matches, more than double the previous attendance record set in 1994.

  • Nearly 675,000 hot dogs were sold. Laid end-to-end, they would stretch approximately 135 kilometres, equivalent to more than 1,350 football pitches.

  • A total of 308 goals were scored across 104 matches, averaging 2.96 goals per game, the highest scoring World Cup since 1970.
